New Zealand joins Scotland, Ireland, and Japan as only the fourth nation to release a single malt whisky aged 30 years or more. This extraordinary spirit began in the rich soils and barley fields of North Otago, crafted by Dunedin’s distilling team using snowmelt waters to create the ‘uisge beatha’—the Water of Life. After distillation, it was laid down to rest in American Oak barrels, where it matured from 1987 to 2017, developing syrupy, silky flavours of rich malt, divine fruit, and a buttery mouthfeel. These casks travelled from Willowbank in North Dunedin to the Taieri Valley, before finding their final seaside home in Oamaru, shaped by the ocean air into a beautifully delicate whisky that reflects three decades of patient craftsmanship.
